At MobieTrain, we are committed to providing a best-in-class learning experience that is effective, intuitive, and accessible for every user. Therefore, we continuously evaluate and improve our platform based on user feedback and evolving industry standards. To that end, we are announcing an important update to the question types available within the MobieTrain authoring tool.
Phasing Out the Drag-and-Drop Question Format
After a thorough review, we have decided to deprecate the drag-and-drop question format. This decision ensures full accessibility compliance according to WCAG standards.
While interactive in concept, the drag-and-drop format presents several challenges:
- Usability Concerns: Many learners find the mechanic cumbersome and unintuitive, which can disrupt the learning flow.
- Accessibility Barriers: This format can be difficult or impossible to use for individuals who rely on keyboards, screen readers, or have motor impairments. To align with global accessibility standards, which require non-mouse alternatives for drag functionality, we are moving to more inclusive options.
What This Means for Your New & Existing Content
The drag & drop will now be replaced by simpeler multiple choice formats. So when you have created content with drag & drop before, it is switched in the App automatically to multiple choice.
When you create new content, you'll not be able to select the drag & drop anymore.
Next Steps & Support
No immediate action is required from your side. As a next step, we recommend exploring the wide range of other interactive and accessible question types available in MobieTrain.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact your dedicated Customer Success Manager or our support team.
